Is Raymond Reddington Elizabeth Keen's father?

Just finished watching The Blacklist episode 10 -- Anslo Garrick: Part 2 -- and up until this point I thought the writers were pushing a little too hard to try to make everyone think that Red is Lizzie's father, when in fact it was going to turn out that he wasn't.

However, contrary to what Reddington said at the end of the episode, I'm officially changing my opinion. I think Reddington is Lizzie's dad.

Why?

  1. Reddington is too smart a guy to have said anything other than what he said, and whatever it is he's trying to accomplish would have been compromised had he said the opposite (regardless of its accuracy).
  2. At the end of The Stewmaker Red takes a photo from an album that was in the stewmaker's possession. The photo was clearly one taken by the stewmaker as a "trophy" picture, indicating the girl in the photo was deceased. However in the pilot episode when Ressler was describing Red's history, he said that one Christmas Reddington was on his way home but never showed up -- he said nothing about his (Red's) family being dead.
    • Side note: I'm not sure where I was going with that one.
  3. There was too long a pause between the question Lizzie asked and the answer she received.

I'm probably wrong, but anything could happen. Either way, great show. Good article here, too.

I KNEW IT

After The Blacklist episode 17, Ivan, I think it's pretty safe to say my theory was correct: Reddington IS Lizzie's father. See here for a more in-depth explanation.

I don't think he is as he

I don't think he is as he told her in "Ivan" he would never lie to her and she has flat out asked him in a previous show.

Good observation,

Good observation, walleyeguy01. And that's literally the one thing that makes me doubt whether he is or not.

If Red's not Lizzie's dad though, what's your opinion on what happened at the end of "Ivan"? Just curious to hear other people's thoughts.

I'm still torn. As much as I want Red to be Liz's father, I doubt he is. To me, it is much to obvious & this show is all about mystery. Could Liz be one of Red's targets?

Nice. I was thinking that

Nice. I was thinking that also (kinda), because so far they've been very vague as to what happened in Lizzie's past. Like, how much of her life doesn't she remember? And what happened to cause her not to remember? Was it the fire?

WhoisRed?

I would really like to think of Red as her father. Any other relation just seems wrong, but this show seems to like twists and turns and i hate to be wrong. He could also be her uncle. Red and Lizs real father could have done something together causeing some ememy to attack thier families. Reds family killed/or missing and Liz's house burn down killing her father and mother, scaring her hand. Red could've found Liz alive in the burned house and gave her to Sam his trusted friend to keep her safe, so Red and her fathers emeny wouldn't know she was alive and try to kill her again. Red then goes on a search to find who did it, and what happend. Doing the only thing to find the truth and have resources, becoming a Criminal. He then, after 2 decades of searching, realizes all the hurt he's caused to get a truth, and how selfish he was. Then goes to Lizzy to care for her. We know he's still searching for the truth, but what if he's looking for the truth in Liz? She was 4 when the fire happened, and being so younge her mind would've had her forget all the details, hence the "flashes of fire" being the only thing she can remember. Red could be slowy helping her to remeber by asking how Sam used to comfort her, by playing the musicbox, or asking her how she got her scar. Trying to have her remeber, so they BOTH know the whole truth.

All excellent points. The

All excellent points. The thing that doesn't add up for me (well, one of the things) is in episode 1 when Lizzie is talking to the General's daughter about her scar, she tells her My daddy gave it to me. So does that refer to Sam? Or to her biological father? Either way, does it mean her daddy started the fire?

Also, I know looks don't mean much because it's a TV show so no one ever really looks like their parents/relatives, but Sam does kind of look like Reddington in a certain photo. In fact, Sam, Reddington, and Lizzie all have blue eyes (but then again so does Ressler -- and that's a whole different theory of mine [Ressler] but right now it seems a little out there to jump to any conclusions).

Berlin

Any one else feel that Berlin could be Elisabeth's father? Maybe Red saved her from the fire because he caused it but didn't realize there was a child inside the builiding and so saved her. Maybe people thought that Berlin's daughter died in the fire that Red caused which is why Berlin is hell bent on Red's utter destruction.
